H.P.W.

Stir in mixing glass with ice strain
2 oz gin (6 cl)
¼ oz dry vermouth (6 dashes)
¼ oz sweet vermouth (6 dashes)
Add orange peel
Serve in a cocktail glass (4.5 oz)

Notes:

The H.P.W. was created by the famous bartender “Charlie”, who worked in the Racket Club, New York. He named it after one of the club’s prominent millionaire members, Mr. Harry Payne Whitney, who at his death in 1930 was apparently worth over $62 million.
