Generic orange variety, the flavor of which has raspberry and strawberry overtones, and is less acidic than other oranges. Naturally occurring red pigments give blood oranges their distinctive berry-like taste and color. Uncommonly specified as such for drinks, but found in the BLOOD BRONX COCKTAIL. Used also as a garnish, sliced.
