absinthe glass

Type:

Glasses & Vessels

Description:

Classic absinthe glasses took on many decorative forms. Most (and the earliest) were essentially footed goblets, often tapering toward the stem, often ornate. The mouth of the glass was designed to be large enough to accomodate either an absinthe spoon or a perforated saucer through which water and sugar could flow - part of the process in the French and Swiss methods of classic absinthe preparation.
